I started blogging back in January 2004 as a way to bookmark interesting stories that I came across on the web. Since then I’ve blogged on and off (mostly off) about various things, starting with a focus on liberty and fiction/film/other culture. I’ve since removed any focus in terms of blogging. I initially hoped a more personal approach, where I wrote about whatever I wanted to write about, would spur me to write more often and/or a few longer pieces. That never happened. Other distractions stand accused, and like conspirators on the Orient Express, all faced a change of “guilty.”

Among my activities: editor of Prometheus, the newsletter of the Libertarian Futurist Society. I’ve written book and movie reviews for a variety of publications, dating back 20+ years, from Ideer om Frihet, Laissez Faire Books, Prometheus, NOVA Express, and reason online.

Professionally I’m a FileMaker developer, trainer speaker (2010-2012 at the FileMaker Developer Conference), and author (FileMaker Advisor).

I’ve lived on three separate continents, and all have left their mark. I’m a runner, cyclist, triathlete, husband, and parent of two young children. I’ve studied a variety of martial arts including Hung Gar kung fu, Guang Ping tai chi, Shotokan karate, Chayon Ryu, and currently a form of tae kwon do. I’ve finished three marathons, four half-marathons, several triathlons, 5ks, 10ks, and other distance races.

Favorite authors include Jack Vance, Tim Powers, James P. Blaylock, Clark Ashton Smith, Michael Shea, Jasper Fforde, Arturo Perez-Reverte, and a host of others.
